Repeated ear infections Children are more prone to getting repeated ear infections than adults. Signs of repeated ear infections are discharging and painful ears. The child will often pull at his or her ear. They may go off their food and have high temperatures. The ear infections may come on with a cold and be accompanied by hearing loss. After a while the child develops immunity to the repeated courses of antibiotics that are prescribed by the GP. Most children will grow out of their condition, if they do not than grommets are inserted and the adenoids are removed. The adenoids often act as a reservoir of infection and removing them often stops the infections. |
