Tonsillitis Frequent bouts of sore throats can severely affect a child's wellbeing. They often miss school, go off their food, suffer from high temperatures and have to take repeated courses of antibiotics that affect their immune system. Most children tend to grow out of their sore throats. However, if your child suffers from more than 5 episodes of tonsillitis per year or has had at least three episodes in the last two years, than you may want to consider a tonsillectomy. The operation is done as a day case and most children are able to resume their normal activity in a week's time. |
